ALL YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GREAT HAIR

Keeping that Salon Finish & Shine: How to Take Care of Your Hair After a Keratin Treatment

Once you’ve had a Unnique Keratin treatment done. You need to take special care of your hair in order to make sure that the treatment will last as long as possible. Keratin Treatments wash away gradually over a period of time, but with proper care, your keratin-treated hair will last up to 3-4 months.

Keratin Treatment and Hair Coloring

If you color your hair, we suggest you do it before the hair treatment so it won’t be damaging or reducing the efficiency of your color or straightening treatment. We recommend waiting for at least three weeks after the treatment before coloring your hair again. The waiting a period of at least three weeks is recommended to avoid causing the hair cuticle to reopen again and deposit hair dye on top of the keratin-treated hair causing the treatment to be altered and the results will not last as long as you’d like.

Post Treatment Period

With most Keratin Treatments you’d have to wait at least a minimum of three days after application to be able to wet or wash your hair… you can’t even sweat due to the risk of altering the effects. With Unnique Keratin Treatments, you have the assurance of being able to wash your hair immediately. You may think to yourself  “well what does that mean?” That means that our high-end treatments give you not only the luxury of having straight, beautiful, healthy, frizz-free hair but you may also style it however you’d like immediately after having a treatment done. Rather than having to wait until you get the go-ahead green light.

Styling After the Treatment

You may Blow Dry your hair after washing but avoid using hair products after the first shampoo wash. You don’t need to use any root lifting sprays, mousse, hairsprays, or gels to style your hair after one of our keratin treatments. The Keratin itself will keep your hair with the right style without any need for styling products. Next day, and as a daily complement to your treatment, we suggest using the Unnique Xpress Blow Dry used for after hair washing to help minimize your blowing time and adding extra proteins and shine to your hair that will help your treatment last longer.

After Treatment Precautions

After having a hair treatment done it’s a good idea to wash the hair less often to help maintain the look longer. Washing your hair often tends to gradually wash out the results and minimize the amount of time the result is supposed to last. You also have to beware of exposing your hair to high levels of chlorine or saltwater. Always cover your hair during intervals of high UV levels as these factors tend to reduce the lifespan of the treatment and overall affect the health of your hair. Using the Unnique After Care Leave-In helps protect the hair from the UV Rays while maintaining your hair looking fresh and fabulous! If you don’t wear a cap before swimming in salt water or chlorine, take a shower before you go swimming, soak your hair, and comb with the Unnique After Care Leave-In. The water will help fill your porous strands to avoid chemical absorption, while the Unnique After Care Leave-In will work to add as a level of protection.

Keratin After Care Treatments

In the months following the treatment, select a shampoo and conditioner set that is free of sodium and sulfates. We’ve created our Unnique After Care Kit that will help not only maximize the longevity of your treatment but it will also work to deposit all those extra nutrients and proteins your hair needs to grow healthy, shiny, and frizz-free.

Deep Conditioning

Use a Sulfate-Free Deep conditioning mask like the Unnique After Care Mask at least once a month to help nurture your hair and extend the duration of the keratin treatment. Once the treatment begins to wear off using the Unnique Oro Care is also a great complement as it reactivates the treatment and helps keep the effects of humidity away by fully hydrating the hair. Keeping the hair less frizzy, smoother, and easier to style.

Night time Care

Sleep on a silk pillowcase at night. Studies have shown that a traditional cotton pillowcase tends to create friction in your hair and disrupt the hair cuticles as you sleep, making your hair frizzy and the treatment short-lived. By sleeping on a silky pillowcase, you are avoiding the roughing of the hair strands when you toss and turn at night. Silk creates very little irritation, which means a longer-lasting keratin treatment.
